Private by James Patterson

James Patterson is one of the better suspense/thriller writers today. Private is about a Desert Storm vet who reopens his father's private investigations firm in LA. His firm is handling 3 really tough cases in the book: his firm is helping the police track down and stop a serial killer preying upon young 15-17 year old women and killing them; helping a friend who's wife has been murdered; and looking into NFL corruption for his uncle who owns a football team. The pace is good, the endings are never what you expect and the main character is always a good guy who has a few tarnishes on his halo but is trying to do what's right.
