Pale Demon by Kim Harrison

Did you ever hear the story of the vampire, the witch, the fairy and the elf who traveled across country?  It's not a joke it's the plot behind Kim Harrison's Pale Demon.  It was a very good read.  I really do love the characters, the world and the way Ms. Harrison writes a story.  I'm starting to get a 'little' annoyed with Rachel's whininess but the ending made up for the entire book.

Black Magic Sanction by Kim Harrison

This Rachel Morgan book is a roller coaster ride from beginning to end.  She is being hunted by the Coven for being a black witch.  They want to lobotomize her and stick her in Alcatraz for the rest of her life.  Rachel has to figure out who her friends are that she can trust and who are the enemies who will betray her to the bad guys.  There is a lot revealed about Rachel, about Al (the demon), Pierce (a ghost who loves Rachel) and Trent, the bad guy (?) throughout the series.

Beauty and the Werewolf by Mercedes Lackey

This is the latest in the "Five Hundred Kingdoms" series by Lackey.  Bella is an unconventional daughter, who has tried very hard to maintain a good relationship with her Stepmother and 2 stepsisters.  She is training with a local "Granny" to become an herbalist to set up her own shop when she is bitten by a werewolf.  She is whisked off to the Duke's castle only to find out the Duke is the werewolf.  This is a great story of people striving to do their best even when confronted with things that shouldn't be.  A really good read!
